Philip Foster (1805-1884) and his wife Mary Charlotte Pettygrove (1811-1880) built their homestead that supplied food and supplies, and a place to rest for weary pioneers of the Barlow Road.
This is also the place of the oldest lilac tree in Oregon.
The graves of Philip and Mary Foster are on a nearby hill on private property.
